AMATEUR RADIO SERVICES

Amateur radio is a very diverse hobby that includes radio enthusiasts on a spectrum from Technician Class, General Class and Extra Class FCC licensed radio operators. These radio operators can become involved in a variety of activities, from; merely listening to a short-wave radio, transmitting FM on a local repeater, supporting emergency communications during a severe weather outbreak, talking with an operating Light House thousands of miles away, located on a small exotic island, assisting a distressed sea-bearing freighter by relaying life saving communications to the Coast Guard for rescue, or by helping their Amateur Radio Club by providing communications along the route of a bicycle race fund-raiser.
